As authorities investigate to see if the man accused of assassinating Charlie Kirk had any help or involvement from outside organizations or individuals, the New York Post reports a far-left group in Salt Lake City called “Armed Queers SLC” is coming under scrutiny.

According to the paper, unnamed law enforcement sources say the group is among several that are being looked at to see if there’s any evidence of cooperation or support for the assassination, or even knowledge that the murder was coming.

… Utah group Armed Queens SLC, whose logo features two high-powered rifle rounds similar to the one that struck Kirk, hosted a lecture on “queer resistance” at the University of Utah in September, 2023 — around 45 miles from Utah Valley University where the 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder and Trump ally lost his life.

Flyers promoting the event hosted in partnership with self-described “leftist student organization” Mecha de U of U obtained by Young America’s Foundation feature a young woman clad in two ammo belts and clutching an AK-47, with her finger on the trigger.

The flyer includes a prominent hammer and sickle, as well as a rainbow flag, and includes the words “agitate, educate, organize.”

In an interview with Voyage Utah last year, a representative for Armed Queers SLC said in response to a question about risk-taking, “Our commitment to something much bigger than ourselves, to people’s struggles against racism, transphobia, and capitalism, means much more to us than any risk.”

This isn’t a Second Amendment group. It’s a far-left, Marxist organization that uses the right to keep and bear arms as a recruiting tool. In fact, as the Pink Pistols (which is a single issue Second Amendment advocacy organization) noted, it “parted ways” with the founder of Armed Queers SLC four years ago when they used the group to promote other causes.

Accusations that the murderer was tied to a Salt Lake City Pink Pistols chapter are false. No such chapter exists now, nor did one exist at the time of Mr. Kirk’s death. From 2020 to 2021, a University of Utah student named Ermiya Fanaeian ran a Salt Lake City chapter. While initially welcomed, she began using the Pink Pistols name to promote broader political issues, violating our rule that we are a single-issue organization devoted solely to the safe, legal, and responsible use of firearms by the queer community. In 2021, her group and Pink Pistols parted ways, and she renamed her organization Armed Queers of Salt Lake City. From that point forward, she no longer represented Pink Pistols, and the Salt Lake City chapter was formally listed as defunct on our website, where it remains. Any Utah-labeled social media tied to her group did not and does not represent Pink Pistols.

To restate the facts plainly:
• Ms. Fanaeian parted ways with Pink Pistols in 2021. She has had no involvement with us since.
• Any social media accounts calling for or celebrating violence are not affiliated with OBS-PP.
• OBS-PP abhors all violence, particularly violence that denies rights to any person or group.
• We extend our sincere condolences to the Kirk family for their devastating loss.

While the Post reports that law enforcement is investigating Armed Queers SLC, we should note there’s no information to date that actually ties the group or any of its members to the suspect in Kirk’s assassination. It’s entirely possible that there’s no connection at all, but given the reported political leanings of the suspect and the Marxist ideology espoused by Fanaeian, it’s also not unreasonable for investigators to see if there are any ties.

According to a purported membership page for Armed Queers SLC, the “armed and militant protection of queer and trans communities, and all oppressed people” is just one of the group’s six principles. The others are as follows:

2. The end of capitalist oppression and exploitation, and the creation of a socialist society.

3. Trans liberation from the gender binary and biological essentialism.

4. The end of the commodification of housing by landlords and the recognition of housing as a human right.

5. The abolition of prisons and police as they serve as nothing but tools of capitalist oppression.

6. Dismantling the bourgeois non-profit industrial complex and replacing it with an organized revolutionary movement.

Ah yes, the infamous “bourgeois non-profit industrial complex”. I’d have thought that socialists would be all in favor of non-profits, but I guess I’m not up to date on the ins and outs of current Marxian philosophy.

There are some groups on the left who are actual Second Amendment supporters, including the Pink Pistols/Operation Blazing Sword and the Liberal Gun Club. These groups are also doing legitimate work defending our right to keep and bear arms and restoring that right where it’s been restricted or lost, as I’ll detail in a post coming up later today.

Editor’s Note: The radical left will stop at nothing to enact their anti-gun agenda and strip us of our Second Amendment rights.
