A homeowner in Fayette County, PA shot an intruder in the face last weekend after the intruder refused to leave.

Intruder In The Home

Police identified the intruder as 62-year-old David Luczak. Luczak entered the home just before noon and walked through several rooms before exiting.

The homeowner, who was present during the invasion, grabbed a pistol and confronted the intruder outside.

Then, according to USA Carry, Luczak attempted to re-enter the home. The homeowner repeatedly told him to leave.

Shot In The Face

Luczak refused to leave the property and the homeowner eventually fired several shots with his gun. Two of the bullets hit Luczak in the face.

Meanwhile, police received a call of burglary and arrived at the home to find Luczak in critical condition.

Aftermath and Extra Details

According to WPXI, medics treated the wounded intruder on the scene. After that, they life-flighted him to a nearby hospital where is now in stable condition. Police consider him lucky to be alive after receiving a shot in the face.

The investigation is ongoing, as police have not shared whether Luczak carried a weapon. They are looking into the possibility of mental health issues.

The authorities have charged Luczak with burglary and criminal trespass. It does not appear he stole or damaged anything while in the house.

Reports have surfaced in the aftermath that Luczak was charged with homicide in 2013. It is unclear whether the charges stuck.

No Charges To The Homeowner

CBS News interviewed the local district attorney, Mike Aubele. He congratulated the homeowner for his actions.

“Thank God the homeowner was armed; this could have been a lot worse,” Aubele said.

They are not charging the homeowner for his self-defense actions. “I don’t see any reason why we’d be charging him,” Aubele said, “He acted well within his rights.”

Wrap Up

It is scary to think of a trespasser walking through your house. It is scarier to think that man has been charged with homicide.

“It’s a very scary thing. It’s not something we like to have happen in Fayette County,” Aubele said.

Shooting In the Face Was Self-Defense

“Everyone deserves to feel safe in their home and take appropriate action to protect their house, protecting their castle,” Aubele said.
