This giveaway wants you to set the holidays on fire — literally. Pit Viper’s marketing has always leaned into a snarky counterculture, and its latest holiday giveaway doubles down on the brand’s trademark nuttiness.
The Utah-based sunglasses brand has hosted a holiday giveaway called 12 Days of Turbo for several years now. It serves up weird, offbeat prizes that cater to its alternative audience.
But this year may be the craziest giveaway yet. For the first of six prizes scheduled over the next 12 days, Pit Viper is giving away a flamethrower capable of blasting fire up to 30 feet. Yes, you read that correctly. And Pit Viper’s expletive-laden social media posts (“win a f***ing flamethrower”) aim to ensure you take this seriously.
For a 48-hour period ending Saturday at 7 p.m. EST, anyone who signs up on the brand’s website with their name and email will be entered into the contest. Winners will be announced on social media shortly after the contest ends.
There’s a new prize every 2 days, and if this fiery kickoff is any indication — this year is going to be hotter than ever.
12 Days of Turbo
To be clear, the flamethrower in question is a $650 ARC Flamethrower. It supposedly offers a 30-foot range, electric push-button ignition, and up to 30 minutes of “fire time.” Safe to say: It’s probably just as dangerous as it sounds.
Moreover, the Pit Viper giveaway includes ARC’s optional add-on: a backpack with 3.5 gallons of fuel for what ARC calls “extended burn sessions.” In an email to media, Pit Viper doubled down on the crass, politically incorrect verbiage that has defined the brand ever since it was founded in 2012 by colorful ski personality Chuck Mumford.
“This unbelievably dangerous X-Products Arc Flamethrower comes complete with a 3.5 gallon fuel backpack and a guarantee to clear any infestation or light your enemy’s cigarette from yards away,” a representative for the company wrote. “Responsible means of warfare are for losers, which is why only one lucky winner will get to light whatever sh*t on fire they want (we don’t recommend arson but we also aren’t cops so whatever).”
The other prizes will be announced at the start of each 48-hour sign-up period. For example, the next prize goes live on Monday, Nov. 16. Stay tuned for all updates through Pit Viper’s social media accounts.
You can sign up for the current giveaway, and all future ones, through the 12 Days of Turbo page on the Pit Viper website.
Happy burning, friends!
